Mastering the 24 runes of the Elder Futhark

This on-line foundation course, taught by Imelda Almqvist and hosted by Christian Thurow, takes you through all four runes of the Elder Futhark over the space of one academic year.

Please note that this course will include new material from Imelda’s (not yet published) book about the runes!

You will receive guidance on making your own personalised set of runes.

Imelda will introduce you to the Nordic names of the runes and the ways of working employed by Scandinavian Rune Magicians (but always provide their more common, Anglo-Saxon name as well!)

Homework tasks will be set, allowing you to fully get to know every single rune and to form a lasting relationship with the in-dwelling spirit of that rune!

You will also learn what divination is and how to do rune readings for yourself and other people.

We will look at all aspects of the work of a Rune Magician!

About Imelda

Imelda Almqvist is an international teacher of shamanism and sacred art. So far she has published two books: Natural Born Shamans: A Spiritual Toolkit for Life (Using shamanism creatively with young people of all ages) in 2016 and Sacred Art: A Hollow Bone for Spirit (Where Art Meets Shamanism) in 2019. She has presented her work on both The Shift Network and Sounds True. She appears in a TV program titled Ice Age Shaman, made for the Smithsonian Museum, in the series Mystic Britain talking about Neolithic arctic deer shamanism. Her third book: Medicine of the Imagination - Dwelling in possibility (an impassioned plea for fearless imagination) will be published by Moon Books on 30 October 2020. She is currently working on her fourth book, about the pre-Christian spirituality of The Netherlands.

Description

In these exciting webinars offered by Imelda Almqvist, in partnership with (and moderated by) Christian Thurow, we explore how the runes of the Elder Futhark can be used to make sigils and even ‘runic vaccines’.

Rune magicians have always used runes in magical workings and to place protection around people, places and situations.

This class has been designed especially for the exceptional circumstances we now find ourselves in: quarantined and dealing with the threat of a Corona Virus called Covid-19.

The runes are not just symbols. They are ancient divine beings who can help us and empower us in all areas of our life. Once we commit to working with them we form a relationship where they become allies and appear to us in dreams, in nature and all around us.

This class is about harnessing their ancient cosmic power to create energetic symbols or sigils which carry magical and divine power.

You can create a very personal sigil and place it on your altar (as place of focus to anchor intentions and burn a candle). It is even possible to create a personalised runic vaccine and the use meditation, or shamanic journeying, to activate this sigil within our body.

No previous knowledge of the runes is required (but helpful if happen to have it!) Please note that these classes introduce only some key runes needed for these protections workings, not all 24 runes of the Elder Futhark. (For that see the new course announced at the top of this page!)
